Adelaide Nook is a three-storey development in Sligo town that emphasizes functional spaces integrated into the city centre's character, offering studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units. The project aims for design excellence that harmonizes with the neighbouring social housing, prioritizing energy efficiency, and maximising natural light through strategic window placement.

The development site on Adelaide Street, a historic thoroughfare in Sligo Town, boasts a prime location. Adelaide Street offers a vibrant mix of shops, cafes, and cultural attractions, all within walking distance of the city centre.

This strategic location allows residents to enjoy the lively energy of Sligo Town while residing in a tranquil and well-designed living space.

Concept

Adelaide Nook gives a modern twist to traditional brick facades with an Irish architectural approach. It combines locally sourced light and dark bricks, honouring Sligo's architectural heritage in a contemporary style. This approach reflects Ireland's trend of emphasizing sustainability and minimalist aesthetics using natural materials and clean lines. Well-placed windows maximize natural light and offer views of the lively streetscape.

Proposal

  • Spacious Two-Bedroom Apartments (73 sqm & 64.2 sqm): Ideal for families or those needing extra space, these units offer distinct living, sleeping, and potential office areas, each with south-facing windows for ample natural light.

  • Thoughtfully Designed One-Bedroom Apartments (46.78 sqm & 55.8 sqm): Tailored for professionals or couples, these units maximize functionality and comfort, featuring efficient layouts and south-facing windows for natural light and outdoor views.

  • Cleverly Designed Studio Apartment (37.6 sqm): Perfect for urban dwellers seeking a stylish retreat, this compact space is planned for functionality and comfort, with strategically placed windows for optimal natural light.

  • Shared Areas: The development includes a backyard and garden for green spaces, along with dedicated bicycle storage to promote sustainable living.
